Converter for IFC ()
Converter for IFC enables users to reuse, share, and migrate Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data from IFC-compliant applications for use with the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform.
The IFC object-oriented data model is an open, international, standardized specification for exchanging and sharing construction, building, engineering, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) data among software applications used in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. The IFC format is registered by ISO as ISO/PAS 16739 and is in the process of becoming an official International Standard ISO/IS 16739.
Converter for IFC connects the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to designers, suppliers, planning departments, and other users of IFC-compliant applications through its IFC file import and export interfaces allowing for the sharing, migration, and exchange of BIM data throughout the customer’s enterprise. Not only is the semantic information of building objects such as sites, buildings, building stories, walls, windows, doors, and furnishings exchanged using Converter for IFC, but, so are the associated geometry, properties, and relationships of the building objects.
Once the IFC files are imported, users have access to all the powerful collaboration capabilities in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to operate on the IFC data, for designing, documenting, tracking, and archiving their AEC projects. BIM Managers can use XML files supported by Converter for IFC to customize how the converter handles IFC attributes and properties during an import or export process.
