PLM GLOSSARY

PLM

PLM is the acronym for Product Lifecycle Management.

PLM is a business strategy that helps companies share product data, apply common processes, and leverage corporate knowledge for the development of products from conception to retirement, across the extended enterprise.  By including all actors (company departments, business partners, suppliers, OEM, and customers), PLM enables this entire network to operate as a single entity to conceptualize, design, build, and support products.

Dassault Systèmes PLM solutions make it possible to design and develop products by creating digital mockups (a 3D graphical model of a product):

  • With CATIA, for virtual product design, enabling business of all sizes to design virtual products, from the simplest to the most complex.
  • With DELMIA for virtual production, providing manufacturers a 3D visualization of the real world to create, validate, and optimize their shop floor operations and manufacturing processes before physical commissioning.
  • With SIMULIA for virtual testing, providing a scalable portfolio of realistic simulation solutions including unified finite element analysis (FEA), an open multiphysics framework, and tools for managing the simulation lifecycle.
  • With ENOVIA as the leading collaborative PLM platform, delivering proven value through dedicated solutions that optimize cost of ownership and enhance ROI.
  • With 3DVIA for online 3D lifelike experiences, delivering realistic 3D experiences to the world's expanding digital communities.
