PLM GLOSSARY

Extended Enterprise

Extended Enterprise is a term used to describe all the actors involved in the development of a product. Extended Enterprise is a more descriptive term than supply chain management (SCM). Expanding the list of actors that traditionally make up a company (employees, managers, board of directors), the extended enterprise also includes business partners, suppliers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), and customers. For the extended enterprise to function effectively, these actors must be able to share and work together on common product data, hence the importance of the Collaborative Workspace created in Dassault Systèmes' PLM solutions.
