Comet interfaces with Abaqus using what we call an Adaptor. When an Abaqus Task (in a Comet Process) is executed, the adaptor performs the following operations:
- Extracts the relevant data from Comet's data model and generates the input file(s) required to run Abaqus.
- Runs Abaqus with these input files, either locally or on a remote machine.
- After a successful Abaqus run, the adaptor reads the results and inserts them back into the Comet data model.
Using this interface, our users are able to use Abaqus to perform various structural simulations as part of broader processes that involve other calculation codes. When the design changes, Comet automatically regenerates the input files for Abaqus analysis.
