Paris, France – Dec. 15, 2004 – Dassault Systèmes (Nasdaq: DASTY, Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a leading provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that it is now a member of GALIA, a French industry consortium that defines standards for e-business communications, engineering data exchange, and logistics management for the automotive industry.
GALIA, a member of the Europe-wide standards organization ODETTE International, provides a collaborative framework within which automotive OEMs, suppliers and solution providers can work together to improve vehicle development processes. As a member of GALIA, Dassault Systèmes will support and benefit from a common set of requirements for 3D engineering data exchange and collaboration developed by automotive OEMs and suppliers.
“Our members will benefit from the participation of Dassault Systèmes,” said Jacky Cousin, GALIA director. “The participation of an important solution provider will actively reinforce the teams in charge of defining standards, thereby streamlining the process of standards adoption for the entire industry.”
“By joining GALIA, Dassault Systèmes is demonstrating our willingness to develop open standards and incorporate them into our solutions,” said Pierre Moreau, vice president, Industry Solutions, Dassault Systèmes. “Our goal is to actively participate in the definition and adoption of standards that will improve vehicle development processes and will increase productivity for the industry as a whole.”

About GALIA |
|
| |
| |
GALIA is an organization for the standardization of methods of exchange of products and information, created by and for the French automobile industry in 1984. It is an association under the Law of 1901 controlled by a 14-member Direction Committee (2 from PSA Peugeot Citroën, 2 from Renault, 10 from suppliers). GALIA is a member of the European organization ODETTE, which has the same mission for Europe as GALIA and which has increasingly frequent partnerships with its American (AIAG) and Japanese (JAMA/JAPIA) counterparts. As such, GALIA’s members can benefit, without having to subscribe to other organizations, from all of the recommendations and standards created at the European and global levels. GALIA’s mission therefore fits into a context of strategic development of international installations and of competitiveness and reliability of French automakers and suppliers. Its working domains are: logistics, engineering, and electronic commerce. |
