CATIA Generative Piping & Tubing complements CATIA Piping & Tubing Design, by providing advanced, process-driven authoring and editing capabilities to improve productivity and quality for the design of Piping & Tubing. It provides the ability to author and edit Logical Piping Lines, data defined on piping lines is then used to drive detail design process.

It also offers specifications driven design, and rule driven minor part parts placement such as: Flanges, Gaskets and Welds. In addition, CATIA Generative Piping & Tubing takes material properties into account so that you get a realistic appearance with the actual bending on your pipe and tubes.

These advanced functionalities enable users to efficiently cope with much more complex piping and tubing design. They also allow process driven design and the data defined early on in logical design can be used to drive the physical design.

  • Creation and management of logical piping and tubing lines
    Users can create piping and tubing lines with standard industry attribute information. In addition, designers can create their own attributes to be included in piping and tubing line definitions.
  • Integration of logical piping lines in the physical design process
    During physical design, Logical Piping Lines are used to drive the physical design process. This includes pipe selection, part selection, insulation definition, and design rule selection.
  • Selection of specification-driven piping parts
    This function allows the designer to select parts from a catalog using specifications that are defined for a project to meet a precise context, such as temperature, pressure and corrosion allowance.
  • Specification driven piping and tubing parts placement
    Users can capture the design intent for selected physical parts to ensure that modification scenarios are possible. Designers can layout and model 3D piping or tubing network either manually or automatically. If parts are based on user defined rules, such as branching or turning rules, much of the layout can be created automatically to optimize the total design process.
  • Rule driven Minor Parts placement
    Users are able to automate detail design by using the insert automatic parts capability. User will be able to define rules that will select and place minor parts such as: Welds, Gaskets, and flanges. This will alleviate the need for the user to manually select and place these minor parts.
