Product Overview

CATIA - Tubing Diagrams 2 (TUD) creates and manages logical designs of tubing systems using industry standard conventions, terminology and practices. This intelligent diagram design capability enables the user to create and validate their designs. TUD supports the definition of Tubing Diagrams by providing general layout tools for equipment placement and location. It also allows users to create and manage tubing lines, annotate diagrams, query design information, and generate appropriate report information. These tools employ an intuitive, productive user interface. When integrated with the CATIA - Tubing Design 2 (TUB) product, the designer is allowed to use a Tubing Diagram design to directly drive the creation of the 3D detailed design.

Product Highlights

  • 2D-3D integration between diagrams and detailed designs to maintain consistency
  • Easy creation, placement and management of tubing lines and components.
  • Complete definition and placement of equipment and line routing, placement and management of connectors
  • BOM reports, as well as query and analysis capabilities adjustable according to your company standards

Product Key Customer Benefits

Integration between 2D diagrams and 3D detailed designs The product is integrated with the 3D Tubing Design 2 product. This function enables the designer to use a Tubing Diagrams design to drive the creation of the 3D detailed design, using the Tubing product. Integration between the 2D and 3D products greatly enhances the design process, by ensuring the quality of the design and significantly improving user productivity.

Creation and management of intelligent tubing lines... Designers can create tubing lines with standard industry attribute information. Their own attributes can be included on Tubing line definitions, and shared across multiple diagram documents to ensure design consistency. As components and tubing functions are created in the diagram, they are automatically included in the appropriate tubing line, and attribute information is propagated to these objects.

Placement and/or insertion of intelligent tubing components... Tubing components can be placed from a catalog, with an interactive user interface that includes dynamic design rule checking, to ensure proper placement of the tubing components into free space and insertion into tubing lines. As components are placed, they automatically inherit information from the appropriate tubing line. Using the tubing diagrams product, with its built-in intelligence, as a driver for specification-driven 3D tubing/part placement, users achieve true diagram/3D integration.

Line routing and connectivity management... Users can route lines using a highly interactive interface that includes dynamic design rule checking to ensure compatible connections. The routing facility provides the user with multiple routing modes.

Placement and management of off-sheet connectors... Users can place off- or on-sheet connectors to define logical connections, within or across documents. Once defined, designers can query these off-sheets to understand the list of associated elements or documents. The user also can request that an associated document be loaded by the system.

Creation and management of intelligent annotations... Designers can create fully associative, or standard, annotations within a diagram. These annotations may be linked positionally to properties of objects, and automatically updated based on property modification. Dynamic annotations with attribute links may be associated to catalog components.

Generation of object IDs based on user defined rules ... Users can define ID rules to specify their company specific naming formats and conventions for objects. ID rules can be assigned to individual classes of objects. When objects are created in the design document, their IDs will be generated automatically, applying the user-defined ID rules.

Modification of intelligent diagrams... Users can scale connected components and have the network adjust them automatically. In addition, knowledgeware design rules can be used to create and/or manage modifications of the design.

Query and analysis of diagram designs... Users can perform a wide variety of queries and/or analysis against their design. Users can query object and physical properties, as well as 2D/3D integration status. The specification tree can be organized by discipline. A design check facility, based on knowledgeware, enables the user to run design checks against P&ID drawings to identify potential errors or inconsistencies in the design

Generation of reports (e.g., BOM)... A comprehensive reporting capability is part of the infrastructure supporting the Tubing Schematic Diagram product. Users can generate reports using sample reports provided with the product. Users can customize the sample reports or create new reports to meet their specific requirements.

Creation of intelligent objects using "smart" component build facility and catalog tools... The product is built around the concept of "smart" objects that understand their classification, property, and behavior information. In order to create and manage the required "smart" components, a component build facility and a catalog management facility are provided. Once the user has created a catalog of smart components, it can be used, as part of the component placement facility, to place components into the design.
