DELMIA Work Instructions Planning (WKI) provides a Version 6 3D immersive environment. Powerful, easy-to-use features detail and document any process from simple assembly prototyping to complex manufacturing or maintenance processes. Textual instructions can easily be created to describe the job to be done and how to do it. These text-based work instructions can be complemented by other electronic documents and images. Best practices for process execution instructions can be captured and stored in a catalog for use by other authors. This allows enterprises to create and implement standards for the way products are manufactured and assembled. WKI supports delivery of work instructions to the shop floor through a manufacturing execution system (MES), HTML, or printed delivery.

WKI is used in conjunction with DELMIA Process Planning, which alerts the author to changes in the process plan. Authors can check the impact these changes may have on their work instructions and make any necessary updates.

    WKI provides a Version 6 3D immersive environment for authoring work instruction types, including text-based work instructions, data collection, signoffs and alerts. These work instruction types can be easily sequenced with simple drag-and-drop capabilities for a specific operation in the process plan.
  • Author work instructions based on a configured engineering and manufacturing dataset
    Users can author work instructions based on a loaded configuration of the product and process data. The work instructions themselves can be configured, reducing manufacturing errors by eliminating ambiguity and exactly matching each product build.
  • Author work instructions using the current state of the 3D environment
    Work instructions are created at the operational level of the process plan, giving users a contextual shop-floor view of the state of the product and resources in any step of the process. Users can visualize the product build-up, position of the resources, and the position of the product relative to the resources in the virtual model.
  • Enrich instructions with documents
    Documents of all types (drawings, 3D models, images, specifications, data sheets, videos, NC programs, and others) can be attached to the work instruction to describe in more detail the planner’s intent.
  • Capture images of the 3D virtual model
    An integrated snapshot command captures the state of the virtual model and the 3D environment and automatically attaches the image to the work instruction.
  • Manage standard work instructions in catalogs
    WKI allows users to capture best-practice work instructions and save them in catalogs, supporting corporate standardization and saving effort for instruction authors. These are Version 6 catalogs that let authors organize best-practices data for quick retrieval and reuse.
  • Preview the authored instructions in Version 6
    WKI users can generate HTML-based shop floor work instructions and preview them in Version 6 for validation before exporting them. WKI includes a catalog of customizable HTML templates that allow non-HTML knowledgeable authors to develop and deliver HTML-based work instructions. Furthermore, the use of templates supports corporate documentation standards.

    Users can author work instructions using CAA C++ APIs. There is support to create and sequence a work instruction under an Operation. Through these APIs, users can programmatically create work instructions easing their migration path from legacy systems to the Version 6 platform.
  • Enterprise Knowledge Language Support for Work Instructions
    Work Instructions can be authored using Enterprise Knowledge Language scripts. Using this script language, the user can add a new Work Instruction Text, Data Collection, Alerts or Sign-offs under a system operation. This Provides more flexibility to the end user, by-passing the User Interface to create Work Instructions.
  • Import Work Instructions and Work Instructions Library from DELMIA Process Engineer to Version 6
    Support for DBDI for work instructions and libraries that exist in DELMIA Process Engineer in V5. This provides an easy migration path for V5 customers moving to Version 6 and keeps intact all the work instructions that have been authored in V5 DELMIA Process Engineer.
