Governance user

The Governance domain allows companies to launch enterprise-wide new product introductions on-time and on-budget. Within Governance are these sub-processes: Requirements Management, Portfolio Configuration, Program Management, Decision Support Business Intelligence, and Compliancy.

ENOVIA X-BOM Materials Compliance

ENOVIA® X-BOM Materials Compliance enables “eco-design” (Design for the Environment) by allowing product engineers to view environmental compliance of products, components, and supplied parts.

ENOVIA X-BOM Materials Compliance exposes compliance information directly in ENOVIA® Engineering Central™ so product engineers can create environmentally friendly products. Reports are available to compare the compliance of manufacturing equivalents, list recyclable content, or evaluate best and worst-case manufacturing location scenarios. This provides critical information to product engineers when making choices based on customer and/or market requirements for new products. Product engineers can:

ENOVIA X-BOM Materials Compliance exposes compliance information directly in ENOVIA® Engineering Central™ so product engineers can create environmentally friendly products. Reports are available to compare the compliance of manufacturing equivalents, list recyclable content, or evaluate best and worst-case manufacturing location scenarios. This provides critical information to product engineers when making choices based on customer and/or market requirements for new products. Product engineers can:

• Immediately execute a roll up of design changes to determine the impact on the overall product compliance.

• Selectively exclude components such as packaging and process-related parts that do not impact the overall product compliance.

• Create reports that summarize compliance information such as unreported parts, compliance to various industry directives, best/worst-case analysis, and recycled content.

  • Analyze a product’s compliance throughout the product development process
  • Maximize the reuse of compliant components
  • Create eco-friendly designs
  • Immediately determine the impact of a design change on overall product compliance
  • Make outsourcing decisions based on supplier part compliance
  • Compliance Display in the Bill-of-Materials
As design engineers use ENOVIA Engineering Central to navigate the bill of materials (BOMs) and build product designs, calculated compliance values are displayed in part search results, engineering bill of materials (EBOMs) reports, alternative parts listings, and manufacturer equivalent part summaries. Calculated compliance values include the directives loaded into ENOVIA® Materials Compliance Central™ when industry-specific data management options are installed. • If the End-of-Live (ELV) data management option is installed, compliance values for ELV and prohibited and declared Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL) data will be visible. • If the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) data management option is installed, compliance values for RoHS (EU, California, China, and Korea), and JIG will be visible. • If the REACH data management option is installed, compliance values for EU REACH and EU REACH XIV will be visible. • If the Packaging data management option is installed, then the EU and US Packaging compliance values will be visible. Compliance engineers using ENOVIA Materials Compliance Central can also create additional calculated compliance definitions that will be visible to design engineers in ENOVIA Engineering Central.
  • Enable/Disable Components for Materials Compliance
Product design engineers can selectively enable or disable component parts for materials compliance. When enabled, the component’s compliance values are calculated and rolled up in the EBOM to compute product compliance. Engineers can disable component parts that are exempt from, product compliance such as packaging and process-related parts so that they are not included in the calculations and do not influence the overall product compliance.
  • Roll Up
Product-level compliance is marked out of date as design changes are made or component parts are enabled and disabled. Product design engineers can recalculate compliance by rolling up the compliance of component parts in the EBOM to the product level.
  • Reports
Product design engineers can invoke the following reports: • Compliance – Displays a table of compliance to industry directives for every part in a product’s EBOM. • Recycled Content – Summarizes the post-industrial and post-consumer recycled content in a product’s EBOM. • Unreported Part – Displays the component and manufacturer equivalent parts that do not have reported compliance data. • Best/Worst-Case Analysis – Allows design engineers to view the compliance of the various manufacturer equivalent parts for components of a product’s EBOM.
  • Review Materials Compliancy Status with ENOVIA 3DLive
The ENOVIA® 3DLive™ client can be configured with a compass quadrant devoted to materials compliance. The user can select the value of compliance (compliance definition) to be displayed and the representation of the part in ENOVIA 3DLive will be colored to reflect the compliance value. The hover capability of ENOVIA 3DLive can be used to view additional information regarding compliance, including the exemption information if the part is compliant with exemptions. This capability is only available to the ENOVIA 3DLive user if they are also a licensed user of ENOVIA Materials Compliance Central, ENOVIA® X-BOM for Materials Compliance, or ENOVIA® Materials Compliance Experience™.
  • The Role of ENOVIA V6 and PLM 2.0
ENOVIA X-BOM Materials Compliance supports PLM 2.0, product lifecycle management online for everyone, and the ENOVIA V6 values, which are: • Global collaborative innovation • Single PLM platform for intellectual property (IP) management • Online creation and collaboration • Ready to use PLM business processes • Lower cost of ownership • Global collaborative innovation
