    The unified V6 data model with Requirement Functional, Logical and Physical structures (RFLP) allows applying a Systems Engineering approach for the complex product definition. Functional and Logical architecture allows managing product complexity and maximizing design reuse early in the design process.Design change or validation processes are facilitated thanks to traceability between objects in different structures, for example check the requirements attached to a requirement, or identify the function impacted by a failure in a wire connection. CATIA Systems Logical Electrical Design provides with the Functional Logical Editor all the features to: create Functional & Logical decomposition, define ports on functional & Logical component, connect functional & Logical component, 2D diagram representations of design, and manage implement links within the RFLP structure.
  • Capture Electrical Systems Architecture & Connectivity
    CATIA Systems Logical Electrical Design brings the electrical semantic to the logical data model, in order to define equipments with their electrical interfaces, logical connectivity and logical harness wiring content. The Electrical systems data model extends the logical model with the following objects: equipment, equipment connector, pin, Logical conductors (net and net group), logical harness, harness connector, splice (etc.), and wiring conductors (wire & cable). Within the context of systems architecture, the product allows the flexible definition of the electrical interfaces for an equipment. The user can easily organize the electrical connectors with their pins from logical ports without breaking the logical links previously define by systems architects. The Electrical designer in charge of the wiring implementation can define the harness and wiring content within the context of the systems architecture. It allows to check the consistency between systems and wiring architecture. CATIA allows capturing the link between logical net/net groups and their corresponding wire/cables realization. The logical model enables to perform the early design of Logical Wire Harness prior to the physical structure definition with the flexibility to investigate easily different harness solutions.

    Define Electrical logical Equipment, Connectors, Pins, Nets, Net Groups, Harnesses, wires and cables. Also it provides the capability to manage grouping links (Connectors and pins, Net Groups and Nets, Cables and wires), and to manage allocation links (Nets and wires, NetGroup and Cables).
  • Import/export electrical definition in ixfElec format (xml file)
    Provides commands to import/Export an iXF definition of a system into/from CATIA Systems Logical Electrical Design. This format can also be interpreted by the Electrical Physical applications. Also at the import, CATIA Systems Logical Electrical Design manages the delta (modifications of already imported systems). For example if the XML file is modified the command is able to identify object s or attributes modifications, and allows the updated of an existing design without duplication for each design change.
  • Route Electrical conductors in CATIA Systems Logical 3D architecture
    With the product CATIA Systems Logical 3D architecture, electrical conductors as net and wires can be routed in the 3D pathway network in order to anticipate the systems integration issues such as routing length or systems compatibility rules. The routing allows checking maximum routing length for electrical connection, it is also possible to define rules in order to avoid routing together systems that are incompatible or redundant.
  • Electrical Design check and automation with knowledgeware
    All the electrical objects are exposed in the knowledge application to perform rules for design automation and checks for design validation. Knowledgeware checks can be used to insure the electrical connectivity is properly defined (check all wires are connected at both ends, check compatibility between the wire and the connected pin…). Electrical ports as Connectors or Pin can be created with knowledge rule to automate the design.
  • Capture the implementation of electrical logical systems with CATIA 3D Physical Wire Harness
    Thanks to the implement link between the electrical logical & physical structures we can easily trace the modifications between electrical systems and the physical packaging. For example the user can link a logical harness with the physical wire harness or a logical equipment in the systems decomposition with a physical equipment product structure; this implement link will help to easily navigate on the full product definition including logical systems and product structure. In addition of the implement link, CATIA Systems Logical Electrical design can export xml files (IxfElec format) that can be used by the CATIA Wire harness Design product to drive the device placement & wire routing.
