Shipboard equipment must satisfy stringent maritime and naval requirements for durability, shock resistance, and functionality. Traditional DDAM (Dynamic Design Analysis Method) analysis is a manual procedure in which results from frequency response analysis are postprocessed to provide an estimate of shock resistance. DDAM is a required simulation document generated during design of shipboard equipment and mounting systems. Inefficient procedures for DDAM analysis are one hurdle facing the Shipbuilding industry today.
As part of the Abaqus Unified FEA product suite from SIMULIA, DDAM for Abaqus is available as an add-on to Abaqus/Standard. DDAM for Abaqus provides an efficient means to perform DDAM simulation through an intuitive, interactive user interface—automatically generating the associated reports as specialized output data and tables. For routine analyses, DDAM for Abaqus can also be executed in "batch" mode, allowing a user to easily conduct multiple DDAM analyses on different models within a design environment.
