CST-01: The World’s Thinnest Watch
By Emilie Marmey | on Jan 31, 2013 Watches
The CST-01 is ‘Time’ embedded in a band
The CST-01 is a minimalist digital watch made of flexible single piece material that was unveiled at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas. CST is actually the acronym for Central Standard Timing, a company founded by Dave Vondle, adesigner and electrical engineer, and Jerry O’Leary, an industrial designer and mechanical engineer. Laminated quoting, flexible components and powered by micro-energy cell, the CST-01 is weighing 12 grams (which is less than 5 pennies coin) and measuring 0.5mm in depth (less than a credit card). Those features make it the world’s thinnest timepiece ever built.

Innovative components assembled in the USA
The concept of the watch was inspired by ultra thinness, readability, ruggedness, flexibility, and low-power qualities of E Ink segmented displays. To make the watch as thin as possible, there is no knobs or buttons on the watch itself. Charging or setting the time (12 or 24 hour time format) is done on a separate included base station. The watch also features MEC (Micro-Energy Cell) battery. The MEC in the CST-01 can be charged up to 10,000 times for an estimated long life of 15 years. The watch will full charge in 10 minutes and should be able to function for a month between charges.
The production, will start on Friday February 22nd. The watches should be assembled in the USA. A watch and its base station are expected to cost $179.

Try to ask it as a gift... you never know! Or you can ask for the $129 Kickstarter pre-order. The campaign is more than fully funded at the moment, with $776,932k raised on a $200k goal. So if all else goes well, delivery will happen in September 2013.
For the font customization, you can contact the company and send your ideas via their kickstarter page.

I want it. Not fan of the font for the numbers: this would be a cool thing to customize.
