This bra uses sensors that can detect heat changes in breast tissue which may signal the growth of tumors

Breast cancer is easier to defeat the earlier it's detected. And while getting a monthly mammogram to detect it in its earliest stages is impractical, wearing a smart bra that can do the almost same job than a screening isn't. Using extremely precise sensors, the First Warning Systems Bra will be able to detect heat changes in breast tissue (caused by new blood vessel growth) that can be associated with a possible tumor activity. Then the bra sends information to a computer where it’s analyzed and processed by a dedicated software that uses an algorithm to study the temperature changes and look for signs of growing tumor.

And while it sounds like a concept that's years away from becoming a reality, the device has already undergone testing for sensitivity and accuracy in three clinical trials with 650 women. Tests so far are showing that the bra is far superior and may be able to detect cancerous growth up to 6 years sooner than self-exams or mammograms. If an upcoming final clinical test shows similar positive results, the bra could be available and commercialized in Europe in 2013 and in the US by 2014 pending FDA approval.
