SIMULIA West Regional Users Meeting 2011

From October 24, 2011 to October 28, 2011
The Network Meeting Center at Techmart, Santa Clara, CA United States

Register today for this year's RUM. Discover how experts in engineering and academia are applying the latest simulation technology and methods to accelerate and improve product development. Attend the one-day live event or for the first time ever, join us online for our RUM simulcast. Also take advantage of a two-day training seminar before the RUM on October 24-25 and after the RUM on October 27-28. These training seminars will be held in our Fremont Office.

Overview

Join us in Santa Clara, CA as industry colleagues participate in a valuable exchange of industry knowledge and networking. Topics will cover latest product enhancements as well as customer presentations offering insight into how industry leading companies are applying Abaqus, Isight and SLM to accelerate the exploration of real-world physical behavior of materials and products in order to improve performance, safety and quality of life.

Also, as an alternative to those with travel or budget constraints, we will offer The RUM Connect, a virtual pass to our RUM. For the first time, our RUM will be simulcast on the web and users will be able to listen and interact with our dynamic speakers and our live audience.

Agenda

We are pleased to have the following presenters this year sharing their use of realistic simulation within their organization. In addition to our customer presentations, SIMULIA Executives will highlight new trends and software enhancements within the SIMULIA product portfolio.

Wednesday, October 26

RUM Seminars

Please join us in our Fremont Office for our pre- and post RUM seminars to gain deeper insight into particular SIMULIA solutions.

Pre-RUM Seminars - October 24-25

Seminar #1: Essentials of Abaqus/Explicit

This seminar emphasizes practical skills and techniques that are needed for analyses with Abaqus/Explicit. The seminar agenda will be a subset of the topics covered in Abaqus/Explicit: Advanced Topics training class. This seminar includes lectures followed by a hands-on workshop session. Details of the hands-on workshop can be found here.

Seminar #2: Essentials of Modeling Contact in Abaqus

This Seminar will cover the techniques and guidelines for solving challenging contact problems. The seminar agenda will be a subset of the topics for the Modeling Contact with Abaqus/Standard training class. This seminar includes lectures followed by hands-on workshop session. Details of the hands-on workshop can be found here.

Post-RUM Seminars - October 27-28

Seminar #1: Essentials of CFD in Abaqus

Participants will learn how to analyze CFD problems in Abaqus, as well as nonlinear coupled fluid-thermal and fluid-structural problems. The seminar agenda will be a subset of the topics for the Introduction to Abaqus/CFD training class. The seminar includes lectures followed by hands-on workshop session. Details of the hands-on workshop can be found here.

Seminar #2: Essentials of Modeling Fracture in Abaqus

Fracture and failure modeling allows for product designs that maximize the safe operating life of structural components. The seminar agenda will be a subset of the topics for the Modeling Fracture and Failure with Abaqus. The seminar includes lectures followed by hands-on workshop session. Details of the hands-on workshop can be found here.

Seminar #3: Abaqus Mentoring Workshop

Spend a day with an Abaqus expert and work on your own models with assistance from the engineers at SIMULIA.  Bring your own CD or memory stick with existing model data such as STEP files, CAE files, ZMF files, input files, data files, message files, ODB files, etc.  Please realize that a large complex model may not solve efficiently during this workshop. Therefore, smaller or simplified models will allow you to try more techniques while you are here.
