Abaqus includes several advanced techniques for modeling extreme deformation and fluid flow. The pure Eulerian analysis capability in Abaqus/Explicit allows for effective modeling of fluid flows and extremely large deformations in solids. Coupling the power of this capability with the traditional Lagrangian approach makes it possible to simulate complicated multiphysics phenomena such as fluid-structure interactions where highly deformable materials interact with relatively stiff bodies. The Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) capability does not rely on the coupling of multiple software products, but instead solves the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simultaneously within Abaqus. This seminar aims at providing users with a solid understanding of the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method and illustrating approaches to setting-up and analyzing real world problems using these advanced analysis methods.

Vikram Radhakrishnan is a Technical Specialist for the SIMULIA brand of Dassault Systemes. He has over 5 years of experience in the simulation domain. He regularly interacts with members of the simulation community to help them make the best use of SIMULIA products for solving real world problems, through training, support and customer visits. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, USA and Bachelors from Anna University, Chennai. His work spans multiple industries and areas in the fields of solid and structural mechanics.
