Giza 3D

Peter Der Manuelian, Professor of Egyptology at Harvard University demonstrated to participants at the 3DEXPERIENCE Partner Forum how he leverages the power of interactive 3DEXPERIENCE virtual reality to bring archaeological discoveries to life in his classroom.

Based on evidence accumulated over more than one hundred years of archaeological excavations, he was able to reconstruct the Giza pyramid and other monuments from the GIZA plateau, in 3D virtual reality. His students can now experience these famous monuments not only as they were on the day they were first discovered by the archaeologists, but more significantly as they were the day they were first used by the ancient Egyptians.

The audience also got a sneak preview of the interactive and immersive 3D experience “Paris, the Great 3DSaga”.

The reconstruction of Paris — the City of Lights — in 3D, took viewers back in time, zipping through narrow streets, exploring ancient monuments and experiencing the city as the inhabitants did several centuries ago.
