Dassault Systèmes, as an official Eurobot sponsor, provides every contestant with the power of CATIA. Eurobot is an international non-professional robotics contest, dedicated to students and independant student clubs. Eurobot takes place in Europe, but welcomes contestants from all over the world. This twelfth edition of the event drew 350 teams covering 26 different countries, which makes it a unique meeting of creative people with a passion for robotics.

The aim of this competition is to design and concieve autonomous robots, which are able to achieve specific tasks according to a yearly defined theme. Robots have to fight during 2 by 2 matches where the winner gets qualified for a further step, until the final fight.

Actually, 2006 instructions were inspired from golf rules. Robots had to find, collect and finally throw balls into littles holes on the playground. The winner was the robot that managed to obtain the best score within a 90 second match. More than being a contest, Eurobot is a real technological and human journey. Most of the Eurobot participants are true robotics passionates; the robots are generally designed and put together during 9 whole months, including the week-ends and nights spent on it.

Dassault Systèmes was therefore the appropriate partner for this competition significantly driven by passion and innovation. In the spirit of our "Passion for Innovation" program, we have set up a specific CATIA configuration, which had to answer the contestants' requirements to design de robots: we offered up to 5 licenses of this "CATIA Robotics Cup Edition" to each of the participating teams.
