Certification Frequently Asked Questions
The premiere method to prepare for an exam is to take a Dassault Systemes-authorized course from one of our Education Partners. As individual learning styles differ, we provide Instructor-led training or Web-based on-line training programs for candidates to choose from.
Candidates who take the exams do not have to meet any education or experience criteria to qualify. However, it is suggested that candidates should consider the following before taking an exam:
Candidates should have received formal training on the topics that are listed within the exam.
Candidates should review and refresh on the topics that are listed to be covered within the exam.
Candidates should possess actual hands-on "work" experience on the topics that are listed within the exam. With an estimated total work experience time of 1-6 months for the Specialist level and 12-18 months for the Expert and Master level exams. *
The following document should give you a good taste of what you will experience when taking the exams: CATIA Certification Professional - Sample Questions.
* Note: the times listed above can vary depending on the individual and work being performed
On the day of your exam, you can call the test center as soon as they open to verify that your exam has been downloaded and is ready for you. Although download failures are rare, this can save you travelling to the center only to find no test awaiting once you arrive.
Before being allowed to enter the testing room, you will be required to show 2 forms of identification, including one government issued photo identification (driver's license, passport, or equivalent). Both must have signatures. Please make sure you bring your 2 forms of ID to the testing center.
You will take the test in a room that is dedicated to that purpose. There may be one or more additional people taking other tests in the same room. The room is typically monitored via video camera or an exam proctor to deter cheating.
You are not allowed to take anything into the testing center to assist you with your exam. No pencils, pens, pages, additional paper, or cell phones are allowed in the exam area of the testing center.
How early should I arrive at the testing center on the day of my test?
You should arrive at the testing center 15 minutes to half an hour before your scheduled appointment time. This extra time will give you an opportunity to sign in and to relax prior to beginning your exam. Occasionally, you will be offered the opportunity to begin your test early if no one else is using the test delivery station.
There will be a confidentiality agreement provided by the certification sponsor that you must acknowledge by clicking on an "I agree" button. This is basically a promise not to give out the questions you encountered in the exam.
When you finish the exam, your score will appear on the screen. Do not continue past that point until you have your official score sheet in hand. Although it's extremely unlikely that your score will be lost, better safe than sorry.
It's best to register several weeks or more in advance of the exam. There are a limited number of seats at each center and they often fill up. If space is available you may register onsite at a testing center for immediate testing (or retesting if you just barely failed an exam and want to go right back in and try again).
You register by calling one of the VUE registration numbers, by calling the testing center itself, or through Pearson VUE real time registration system . We suggest that several days after you have registered you should call back and confirm that your information is recorded correctly.
A confirmation letter is automatically sent via email after you register for an exam. You may print this email for your receipt.
You can reschedule or cancel an exam through Pearson VUE Web site, by contacting a VUE agent directly, and by calling or visiting the testing center directly.
When you finish the exam, your score will appear on the screen. Do not continue past that point until you have your official score sheet in hand. Although it's extremely unlikely that your score will be lost, better safe than sorry.
Each score report from VUE is imprinted with a unique Registration # and Validation #, that can be used to verify the authenticity of the report. Simply enter these codes at http://www.vue.com/authenticate and authenticity of the score report will be instantly verified.
After your exam, the VUE system transmits your results to the test sponsor where they are entered into your candidate record. The time between taking an exam and having the results registered in the sponsor's database depend on a number of factors. Depending on how often a sponsor updates their database and how often the test center transmits data, your records may be updated within a few hours or several days.
