Certified and Derived Configuration Definition

Platform - is a hardware architecture or a software framework which allows Dassault Systèmes products to run. Platforms can include one or several of the following components :

• hardware architecture,

• operating system (including national language parameter settings),

• programming languages and frameworks

• runtime libraries,

• application servers,

• database,

• other middleware …

Configurations – is a defined set of components with specified versions or version ranges of such components allowing the Dassault Systèmes products to run. This set of components depends upon the architecture (client, server …).

Certified Configurations – Certified Configurations are Configurations that have undergone the full set of tests and scenarios defined by Dassault Systemes, which include without limitation automated and manual testing, to check components integration. Although Dassault Systèmes products might run on other Configurations, incidents specific to these Configurations would not be accepted for support.
Please note that some problems identified on Certified Configurations can be solved by a new driver. In that case, Dassault Systèmes explicitly recommends to install this new driver to fix this problem (cf APAR reference), although it has not been certified on this Configuration.

Derived Configurations - Dassault Systèmes products are also supported on following Configurations, although they may not be specifically tested in Dassault Systemes, as they are considered derived from certified Configurations. Derived Configurations differ from certified Configurations with :

• Hardware:
  • Different clock speed
  • Different cache size
  • Inferior number of cores
  • Different Lithography
  • Different FSB
  • Different disk
  • Different network subsystems
  • Different texture memory configurations
  • Other main subsystems remain unchanged (chipset and graphic adapter)

• Software :
  • Windows maintenance upgrade (only if hardware support exists, and only if such level of Windows has been announced as supported by Dassault Systèmes)
  • New V5 or V6 functional release
  • V5 maintenance releases through service packs
  • V6 maintenance releases through hot fixes

A change in the following components does not qualify as a Derived Configuration. It requires a new certification process to be run :

• Chipset

• Superior number of cores

Note that derived Configurations on which Dassault Systèmes products are supported are always explicitly documented.

It is specifically understood that Dassault Systèmes will make reasonable efforts to assist customer with support of Dassault Systèmes products on Certified and/or Derived Configurations. However, customer remains fully responsible to maintain continuous support arrangements, relationship and contacts with third party providers of any elements of a Platform to determine issues related to third party provider's products.

In any and all cases Dassault Systèmes has no responsibility to provide support on non-Dassault Système’s products. Customer remains exclusively responsible for the choice, deployment and use of any Platform or Configuration.
