Product Overview

ENOVIA Structure Penetration Management (SPT) provides support for managing the design of system elements such as piping and electrical harnesses that must be routed through a solid structure. This process is a typical design activity in shipbuilding, aerospace and other industries involving complex multi-disciplinary components.

Based on recorded clash results, which are generated using ENOVIA Product Interference Management (PIM), supervisors can define a special type of Action called a penetration request to resolve a clash as a penetration. The penetration request can be assigned to a designer who will resolve the clash by, for instance, designing a cutout or adding a sleeve to the structure and route the system element through the cutout.

The design proposal is promoted to a 'penetration' when it is accepted by the supervisor.

Product Highlights

  • Design process support for the shipbuilding, aircraft design and other industries involving complex multi-disciplinary components
  • A solution for designing piping or electrical harnesses that must be routed through a solid structure
  • Ability for a supervisor to define a 'penetration request', a special type of Action to resolve the clash as penetration by, for instance, designing a cut-out or adding a sleeve to the structure
  • Interoperability with CATIA with the ability to send clash or penetration directly to CATIA

Product Key Customer Benefits

Shipbuilding and aerospace industry design methodology support... Customers that use structural penetrations to manage design progress and activity will find this process perfectly adapted to their management methodology. Typically, users in the shipbuilding industry are familiar with penetration management processes and use penetrations as a work-management, reporting, and progress-tracking tool. All industries where similar product design challenges exist (aeronautics, large machinery, etc.) are likely to find this best practice useful.
