Within the IP Lifecycle domain are the following sub-processes: IP Work-in-Progress, IP Asset Release, and IP Classification and Re-Use.

ENOVIA X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5

ENOVIA® X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5 provides seamless access to the rich information managed in the ENOVIA® Collaborative Enterprise Sourcing V5 (CES) component library while defining the engineering bill-of-material (EBOM).

With ENOVIA X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5, “design anywhere, build anywhere” business challenges are addressed with improved collaboration between component management and product development teams. While building product EBOMs, engineers get access to the approved, qualified and preferred components based on location, plant, product and/or program to ensure that the parts chosen are right the first time. In addition, engineering can improve part re-use by promoting the custom parts it has designed to the centralized component database to allow other product programs access to these parts.

  • Powerful Search Capabilities
    ENOVIA X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5 provides powerful context sensitive search capabilities for designers and engineers. Users can easily navigate the classification tree to select the right category to search in, select a form that contains the right set of attributes specific to that category and view the results. Users can enter search criteria quickly and error-free by choosing predefined enumerated values or range values rather than manually typing. The search results show a fully cross-referenced view of parts including manufacturer and supplier information.
  • Evaluate Components for the EBOM
    ENOVIA X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5 enables users to quickly locate components they intend to use in their design by optionally organizing search results based on classification categories. This simplifies the component selection process. Users can further evaluate components and make more informed decisions by accessing detailed manufacturer,supplier, and sourcing attributes (e.g. lead-time, minimum order quantity, and packaging), accessories (e.g. connectors for a printed circuit board [PCB], belts for a motor), and alternate parts and preferences. Pricing information to locate the lowest price for a supplier/manufacturer item is also available.Users can then select a component from the search results and add it into the EBOM.
  • Generate AVL Report
    Users can generate an Approved Vendor List (AVL) report that shows the fully cross referenced view of components in ENOVIA CES V5 including manufacturer and supplier information.
  • New Component Introduction
    ENOVIA X-BOM Component Reuse for CES V5 provides the ability to share components easily with other product programs in the company. Through the “New Component Introduction” wizard, custom parts can be easily introduced from ENOVIA® Engineering Central™ into ENOVIA CES V5 or vice versa enabling extensive reuse of components. Since project information is retained through the introduction process, components can be easily located for future reuse.
  • Role Based Access to Item Information
    Access to categories displayed in the item details page can be controlled through the sourcing administrator setting access to certain categories based on the user role and access privileges. For example, an administrator can restrict any design engineer from having access to pricing information or alternate parts.
  • Map Data with ENOVIA Engineering Central
    Manufacturer Items (MI) in ENOVIA CES V5 are mapped with the Manufacturer Equivalent Part (MEP) in ENOVIA Engineering Central V6. With this capability users can take advantage of the component catalog provided by ENOVIA CES V5 while maintaining the qualification of parts in the engineering system. This also enables other ENOVIA applications such as ENOVIA® X-BOM Manufacturing or ENOVIA® Materials Compliance Central™ to use the MEPs created as part of mapping.
