Applus+ specializes in the area of certification, operating in 25 different sectors including automotive, construction, food and environment. In automotive certification, Applus+ is present in all stages of the vehicle life cycle, offering a wide range of services to the general public and the automotive industry. IDIADA Automotive Technology SA was created in 1999, and is owned by Applus and the Government of Catalonia.
The reduction of noise and vibration (N&V) issues has paradoxically increased problems with squeak and rattle (S&R) in vehicle interiors, impacting warranties and customer satisfaction for automotive manufacturers and dealers.
Dassault Systèmes Response
Engineers used Abaqus finite element analysis (FEA) to approximate nonlinear car component S&R effects inside linear N&V models, in order to pinpoint where S&R may arise.
IDIADA is developing increasingly sophisticated realistic simulation models that will help mitigate squeak and rattle issues in the earliest stages of design rather than identifying the problem later and having to fix it, saving time and cost down the product development and marketing road. Interestingly enough, the simulation models identified even more potential S&R problems for future refinement.
