Tips & Tricks: CATIA Wall Thickness Analysis
The CATIA Wall Thickness Analysis tool enables designers to perform quick checks to ensure the quality of their designs before they submit them to engineering and manufacturing, reducing the number of design iterations. The CATIA Wall Thickness Analysis tool enables designers to assess the wall thickness of solid parts in order to balance high performance and low mass with strength and durability.
Tip: How to check Wall Thickness in CATIA
With this tool, just a few clicks produces an easy-to-understand visual representation of a part’s wall thicknesses using a graduated color scheme.
Here is what to do:
- Open the Part Design Workbench
- Choose the Wall Thickness Analysis tool
- Select the solid body you wish to analyze (typically the PartBody)
- Press “Run” and wait a few seconds
- Select the “Colors” tab and ensure the rendering is set to “Shading with Material” to see the wall thicknesses represented by the colors.
For most uses, automated grading is sufficient, though it is possible to define minimum and maximum values. Analysis can be fine-tuned by modifying the tolerance and scope/range.
