From 1985 until today
In 1985 the enthusiastic Mr. Bernt Carlsson started the Swedish CADAM user group. At the time it was a CADAM user group since CATIA was not yet established. This group discussed details on how to work with CAD data conversion and standards. Seven years later the name was changed to The CADAM/CATIA user group and became, in 1994, the Swedish CATIA User group.
Today, about 90 member companies get together twice a year during SCAF conferences to exchange experiences and discuss both details and “The Big Picture”. In recent years SCAF has decided to open up the organization even more to make sure that companies in Norway, Finland and Denmark also feel they are most welcome and are invited to be a part of this community.
Value of SCAF
Every SCAF meeting is based on a theme. This year’s conference, held in October 2011, featured Product Realization and focused on Virtual Manufacturing and testing. Other SCAF meetings in the past have focused, for example, on Design and 3D as the Master. The next generation of CATIA from Dassault Systèmes, Version 6, is demonstrated and discussed intensively at each SCAF conference.
There are many companies using Dassault Systèmes products that have never had a chance to meet DS representatives to discuss details of their installed base.
The cooperation between SCAF and Dassault Systèmes has increased in recent years for mainly one reason: to let members meet the people behind their most important tools!
The members
The real capital of SCAF is its members. Without the participation and commitment of member companies, SCAF would not exist at all. Meeting discussions start early in the morning and do not end until late in the evening. The networking established by members during a SCAF conference continues to live on for a long time even after the event has ended.
SCAF is the number one Nordic event that brings together the people who are active within the Version 5 community. No other forum gathers design engineers, system engineers, method developers and process developers under the same roof.
