Dassault Systèmes Forges Partnership with Engineering School and to Support Swiss Industry
05/31/2006Paris, France, June 1, 2006 – Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris:#13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Swiss graduate engineering school Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie. Having satisfied the exacting quality standards set by Dassault Systèmes, the school is now an accredited training provider of CATIA V5 software to the Swiss engineering industry. Within the scope of this collaborative effort, the two partners have pooled their know-how and resources to allow engineering companies to enhance compatibility between the design stage and the manufacturing process.
“Intensive use of Dassault Systèmes applications equips our students with the skills to contribute immediately and actively to industrial projects, drawing on the knowledge acquired during the course and applying it in hands-on situations,” explained Jean-Daniel Lüthi, head of the Industrial Microtechnology Department at Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie. “We achieve this by regularly involving students in assignments conducted in our laboratories under the guidance of our teaching staff.”
At the end of June 2005, Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie decided to select a broad range of industry-specific applications in the areas of design, production simulation and technical datamanagement. Following an in-depth analysis, the school chose Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA V5, ENOVIA SmarTeam and DELMIA software solutions. More than 130 workstations have since been installed at the school’s Locle and Saint Imier sites. Their intrinsic high quality means that the school can deploy these resources transversally for both educational requirements and applied research activities.
“This partnership with Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie is critical to supporting our investments in Switzerland, since the school is located at the heart of a region steeped in industrial know-how, combining the key strengths of tradition and innovation in several target areas, such as watchmaking and mechanical engineering,” commented Denis Senpéré, general manager PLM Northern Europe, Dassault Systèmes.
To promote this initiative and demonstrate the benefits of the research conducted at the engineering school for the region’s industrial players, the two partners organized the first in a series of information workshops this week, featuring in situ presentations. Students enrolled on design and analysis engineering courses can now do the majority of their learning using the different modules integrated into the Dassault Systèmes tools.
