Pointing to slow development time, lack of coordination and a cultural disconnect with innovation, seventy two percent of senior executives reported their dissatisfaction with the rate of return on their organization’s investment in the area of innovation. In response to these shortfalls, leading organizations have begun to employ an open innovation model in their product development repertoire, thus allowing them to look outside to fuel their internal innovation engines through collaboration and co-development with other companies.
