Brett Conard – Sales Director, North American Energy, SIMULIA

Brett is the SIMULIA Sales Director supporting the Energy Industry in North American. With SIMULIA for over 13 years, Brett has held a variety of technical and managerial roles. He has a BS and an MS in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.

Don O’Brien – Business Development Manager, North American Energy, SIMULIA

Don has been working globally in the CAE industry for over 12 years. Working in Western Canada, Toronto, and across the United States his experience provides a unique perspective for emerging CAE users.  A graduate of Brock University in Business Economics, Don has been applying business-case logic to technology-driven business initiatives across many disciplines.  Don currently works out of the SIMULIA Calgary Alberta office.

Lance Hill – Technical Lead, North American Energy, SIMULIA

Lance Hill is the technical lead for the Energy Industry team for SIMULIA. His role involves development of engineering methodologies throughout the oil and gas industry. Lance received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Mark Bohm – Senior Sales Director North America, SIMULIA

With SIMULIA for over 25 years, Mark has held a variety of technical and managerial roles based in the US and abroad. He has a BS in civil engineering from Brown University and an MS in civil engineering from UC Berkeley.

Tobias Hoeink – Senior Technology Developer, Baker Hughes 

Tobias Hoeink is a Senior Technology Developer at Baker Hughes, where he performs research related to geomechanics and develops 2D and 3D finite-element modeling technologies. Tobias received a M.S. and a Ph.D. in physics from Münster University (Germany) working on geophysical and computational fluid dynamics. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Tobias initiated an active research program in geodynamic high-performance computing at Rice University.

Varinder Dhillon, Capt. – Royal Canadian Air Force

Born in Bhamipura, Punjab, India, Varinder Dhillon immigrated to Canada with his family in 1971. A long time resident of British Columbia, he attended high school in Aldergrove, BC. During this time, he joined 861 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. While at 861 Sqn, he was awarded the Glider and Pilot Scholarships. In 1985, he moved to Vancouver Island to complete a Bachelor of Science in Geography at the University of Victoria. Upon graduation, he worked as a planning assistant with BC Transit’s small communities division.

In 1990, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces under the Direct Entry Officer program. After completing the requisite flying training in Portage La Prairie, MB and Moose Jaw, SK, he was selected for CF-18 Hornet training.

In 1997, Captain Varinder "Vlad" Dhillon completed fighter pilot training. Since graduation, he has been posted to 433 Esquadron Tactique à Chasse (ETAC) and 416 Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS). He has participated in multiple operational tours to Aviano, Italy.

In 2004, Captain Dhillon completed a ground tour with Operation Athena at Camp Julien in Kabul, Afghanistan. In theatre, he was the Air Liaison Officer for the National Command Element.

Until Sep 2010, Captain Dhillon was a CF-18 Fighter Instructor Pilot with 410 Tactical Fighter (Operational Training) Squadron located in Cold Lake, Alberta.  Vlad has accumulated over 2,400 hours on the CF-18 Hornet.

On 11 Nov 2010 and after 20 years of dedicated service, Capt Dhillon retired from the Canadian Forces and now lives with his family in DeWinton, AB.  He is currently a Reservist, based in Calgary, working for the Air Component Coordination Element (ACCE) West.  Capt Dhillon is a community minded individual working as a Board Member of the Air Force Museum (on Crowchild), a member of the Rotary Club of Calgary, a member of the Burns Club of Calgary and a proud member of the Aircrew Association of Calgary.

Captain Dhillon and his wife have a son and daughter. Captain Dhillon enjoys most recreational pursuits but in particular, runs rarely, plays team sports poorly and watches far too much car racing.[Read Less]
