Since 1972, Hanil E-Hwa has been a leading manufacturer of auto door trim, accessories and seats in Korea. In 1988, Hanil E-Hwa opened a research institute to ensure its competitive advantage and leverage the technical expertise reflected by its ISO 9001 and QS 9000 certifications. Hanil E-Hwa has five domestic affiliates and factories in China, India, and Turkey. The company’s main partners are Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors. It also supplies seats to Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Heavy Industries (Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd).
The Challenge
Competition is particularly fierce among auto parts suppliers required to meet the production schedules of end product manufacturers. Therefore, competitive advantage relies on more agile design capacity and the reuse of existing design data.
Although suppliers face a variety of internal and external challenges, one of the greatest hurdles is organizing and using design data accumulated for many individual projects.
