Changer d'Ere: Eco Design by Dassault Systèmes

Dassault Systèmes is taking part in the “Changer d’Ère” exhibit held at Paris’ main science center, the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie.  The exhibit highlights how sustainable development can become part of daily life in terms of individual behavior and eco design of everyday objects.

DS is taking part in this exhibit to highlight how DS PLM can be used to design everyday objects, which help reduce the environmental impacts of our day-to-day living.

A revolutionnary bike, the Läufer, which used CATIA V5 for the ditital prototype and in the manufacturing process, is presented in the "Alternative Transport" area. In the "Eco Efficient Production" area, Dassault Systèmes is demonstrating how the usage of V5 Solutions can help to create products that are truly "ecodesigned". A worldwide Eco Design competition has been organized during summer of 2006 with our partner : Core77, a famous Industrial Designers web portal. From more than 700 entries, we selected 5 winners, and 2 of them are presented in the Eco-Design video at the "Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie".

Eco Design Throught Product LifeCycle Management

Dassault Systèmes (DS) PLM solutions - powered by 3D - offer realistic visualization and simulation of the product’s lifecycle. 80% of the product’s environmental impacts being determined during the design phase, capacity to anticipate is essential. By using 100% digital prototypes, it is possible to test options and identify the solution that optimizes the product’s environmental, technical and economic criteria early on in the design phase, getting it right the first time.

Dassault Systèmes participated at the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan. We presented our "Sustainable Innovation" concept through an extraordinary installation.
