The internet of things is predicted to add fifty-seven billion new devices to the Internet in the next five years. That’s roughly nine times the number of cell phones and fifty-seven times the number of cars in use today. All of these new connected devices will have one or more integrated circuits driving their behavior. That being said, do we know what IoT actually is and how it will affect companies, industries and societies? From our A.T. Pinpoint has allowed Qualcomm’s DSP team - including architects, logic designers, and physical design engineers - to use a common web-based interface tool to communicate implementation issues across different geographical locations in a time-efficient manner. By allowing different groups of the design teams to work together using a “layout centric” model, Qualcomm’s designers can view complex timing paths, area, and IR drop distributions with respect to the physical layout while also gaining insight into how these traditionally different metrics interact when viewed together in a unified layout view to improve the overall quality of the design implementation.
This presentation will describe the ENOVIA Synchronicity DesignSync infrastructure within Freescale Semiconductor, including how DesignSync is used to distribute integrated circuit designs and know-how intellectual property (IP) between different sites and the tools involved in this process which allows for fast workspace generation from a central product lifecycle management (PLM) system.

This session will provide an overview of the ENOVIA V6 Upgrade project at Parker Hannifin Corp. The presentation will highlight the previous PLM system state and the selected upgrade type, as well as both why and how the decision to upgrade was determined including the executive approval and partner selection processes. It will also illustrate the implementation methodology utilized, along with a summary of the related lessons learned.
B&W PGG will explain the three key factors associated with a successful ENOVIA PLM upgrade that includes an embedded EXALEAD full-text search: (1) Preparing with organization and planning between upgrades; (2) Strategic partnerships with Dassault Systèmes and the B&W business; and (3) A honed upgrade process of tracking, testing, and training.
